How to Store Your Luxury Synthetic Wig Between Wears?

Proper storage prevents most of the dryness and fuzzy ends that Luxury Synthetic hair develops over time.

How you store your Luxury Synthetic wig between wears matters just as much as how you wash and style it. Most of the dry, fuzzy ends we cover in our detangling guide happen not from wear itself, but from improper storage.

Use a Mannequin Head — Not a Drawer. We call this Home Base.

Store your wig on a petite rubber mannequin head whenever you're not wearing it. This keeps the wig's natural dome shape, prevents the hair from getting crushed or flattened, and keeps your part and style set exactly where you left it.

Avoid stuffing your wig in a drawer, box, or bag between wears — this crushes the fibers, flattens curls and volume, and can actually cause more tangling than regular wear does.

Keep It Away From Heat and Humidity

  • Store your wig away from direct sunlight, heaters, and radiators — heat exposure (even ambient heat, not just styling tools) can dry out the fibers over time.
  • Avoid humid spaces like bathrooms, since consistent moisture exposure can affect how the hair holds its style.

Between-Wear Touch-Ups

If your wig looks a little flat or frizzy after time in storage, a light mist of water is often all it takes to refresh it — synthetic fibers love water, and a quick mist can relax and smooth the hair without a full wash. See our full washing guide if it needs more than a quick refresh.

Traveling With Your Wig

Luxury Synthetic hair is a dream for travel. Unlike human hair, it won't dry out from cabin air on a flight, and it doesn't get static-y — which is why we actually prefer wearing it on planes, especially for long flights. A human hair wig, by comparison, often needs to be restyle after a long trip; Luxury Synthetic just doesn't have that problem.

If you are packing it rather than wearing it, a little squishing in a suitcase or bag won't do any real damage — one of the quiet perks of this fiber.

A few travel habits we swear by:

  • Keep it with you, not checked. If a checked bag gets lost, that's your wig gone too. Carry it on whenever possible.
  • A carry-on with a shoe compartment works great — use that space for your wig instead of shoes. We like the Samsonite Better Than Basic Weekender for this.
  • Wrap it in its own plastic bag, then pack it with plenty of tissue paper around it — even if it gets a little squished, the tissue paper keeps it protected and cushioned.
  • Always wrap the hair in a hairnet before packing. This is non-negotiable — it prevents tangling no matter how the wig shifts around in transit.

Proper storage is one of the easiest ways to extend the life of your Luxury Synthetic wig well into its full 12–18 month lifespan — no extra products or effort required, just the right habits between wears.
