Can All Synthetic Wigs Be Curled This Way?

No — only heat-friendly synthetic wigs can handle heat tools or the oven method. Always confirm your wig's fiber type before starting, since this method isn't safe for standard (non-heat-friendly) synthetic hair.

What You'll Need

• Hot rollers — sized to your desired look (1.5" for beachy waves, 1" for glamorous curls)
• Petite rubber mannequin head — holds the wig's shape without stretching the cap
• Sewing pins — better than T-pins for preventing snags
• Continuous spray water bottle — to lightly mist the hair
• Kenra blow dry spray — protection without heavy buildup
• A standard kitchen oven — set to a low, controlled temperature

Step-by-Step: The Professional "Oven Set" Method

Step 1 — Prep and detangle
Secure your wig to the mannequin head with sewing pins. Brush thoroughly from the ends up to the top with a flexible wet brush to remove any tangles before applying heat.

Step 2 — Smooth the ends
If the ends feel "crunchy" or frizzy, lightly mist them with water and run a flat iron on a low setting over them. This resets the fiber so your curls come out smooth instead of frayed.

Step 3 — Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 195°F (90°C).

Safety note: This low, controlled temperature mimics a professional factory wig oven. Do not exceed this temperature — going higher risks damaging the fibers.

Step 4 — Section and mist
Working from the bottom to the top, take 1-inch sections of hair. Lightly mist each section with water and a bit of blow-dry spray — the added moisture helps the heat penetrate the fiber evenly.

Step 5 — Wrap the hot rollers
Take 1/2-inch subsections and wrap them around your hot rollers.

Step 6 — "Bake" the wig
